Training of Horses

Full and partial training of horse and rider.  For a horse to be in training under contract it is required that their owners take a minimum of 4 riding lessons during the course of their training.  To best facilitate this there are packages that offer riding lessons in the total cost.  If owners do not take advantage of these packages they will still be required to take the four lessons, but they will take them at the uncontracted rate.  Riding lessons are required for horses in training because this insures that the owner will recieve the most benefit from the training their horse received. If the owner does not take lessons the horse is almost garaunteed to need to return to training in the near future.  The exception to this is if a horse is being trained only in ground work.  In which case the owner is required to take ground handling lessons instead of riding lessons.  For further  information...

Riding Instruction

The riding lesson program accepts riders of all levels, disciplines and ages.  To best facilitate the learning of the individual student there are three main types of lessons.  Private lessons are offered on a one-on-one, student to instructor ratio.  Semi-private lessons are offered with a 2-3 students per instructor ratio.  Group lessons are offered for groups of 4-6 students per instructor ratio.  Students who ride below a certain skill level will not be elligible for semi-private or group lessons.  All students will be required to lunge at times in their lessons to help develop their seats.  The practice of lunging students to develop the seat can be traced to every major classical riding school.  Students under 5 will have shorter riding lessons based upon the shorter attention span in this age bracket.
